Adventures with Murry

There has been a lot going on at school! I have been behind on keep everyone updated! The kids have had a great report card as well as their latest progress report. It's so hard to keep up on things with the holidays.

They went on their first field trip in October and got compeltely soaked! Poort things I don't even know why they too them. However they are going back in January for FREE! yeah!

I have been very proud of them this school year so far and they are learning so much. Their teacher are wonderful too! I wish I had signed up to volunteer, however with Brinlee it would be too hard since I can't take her with me :( Maybe next year.

Anyway....the kids wanted to share with their family ad friends to follow our family blog to read about our Elf on the SHelf Murry's adventures this year at our home! Be sure to check out: www.cone-family.blogspot.com to read where they find him every morning. We are enjoying having Murry back and have this wonderful tradition in our home!!

No Bus this Morning

As usual we walked to the bus stop. The kids met their friends and while we were waiting they wanted to play tag. I told them not to run because the sidewalk was wet because of the sprinklers. Well, of course they did not listen. Bella was running and she slipped and fell face first! I freaked a little as was worried about her face. She got up and I knew right away she was completely embarassed! Poor girl!! She wanted to cry, but didn't.

Her knees were all scraped up and started to bleed, her face was just red a little so that was good. I had my neighbor wait with Quinn for the bus and I took Bella home to clean her up. We put band-aids on her knees and her face was just red, like a rug-burn. I wrote a note to her teacher in case she complained later of a headache or something.

It was my first time experiencing the car-rider line. Ugh, so glad that they take the bus so I can be right back home, not have to wait i my car running in the heat and I can at least give them a kiss goodbye! I told the teachers out there that she is usually a bus rider and fell this am so she didn't know where to go.

I'm sure her face will be red-er (is that a word?) when she gets home. Hoping she has a great day and has learned once again to LISTEN!

Going Good

School is going well for the twins! Days fly by for me even though I have more time to do things during the day. Some days I wish I didn't have to work so I could get more done. Oh well...

They are really ejoying school and I can't wait to hear how they are doing at Parent/Teacher conferences at the end of October. It's a little weird having them get on the bus and off the bus and not driving to pick them up. But then again it's great because I save on gas!

Their first field trip is rapidly approaching. It's to a petting farm on Halloween. The cost of these feild trips are expensive too! $25 per child! Another debt to add to my debt, I don't want them to be left out of a field trip just because we can't pay for it. I know they would be heartbroken. We will find a way.

Spanish Here We Come

Bella came home on Friday with a little workbook she idid in class. It's about the school rules but everything is in Spanish! She did an amazing job coloring and gluing, however I have no idea what it says!! LOL! There are about 5 pages to it, I only scanned in the first page. You can see it on her page!!

Doing Great!

Well the first week is almost to a close and the kids are loving school! They have had P.E., science, movie time and more. It's great seeing them being excited to get on the bus as well as excited when they come home to tell me a little bit about what they did during the day.

It has been a small struggle for me to figure out what to send for lunchf or Quinn but I'm sure I will really start figuring out what to give him. Right now it's more of snacks, I just want hom to get used to school.

I posted some, well more like a lot, of pictures that Quinn has drawn at school. He does an amazing job! Such an imagination!! Be sure to check out his page to see his artwork.

I hope school continues to be fun for them and makes learning easy. I have had some troubles with our HOA and the bus, but that's another story...

Looking forward to all of the Kindergarten adventures this year as well as finally having a little more time to get my things done during the day. However I should bite my tounge, I might just jinx myself. LOL! Here are a few pictures from our walk home on their first day. I forgot to take a picture with the twins before they left for their first day, so I figured a picture at the end of their first day was just as important!!

It was a Good Day

The twins said they had a good first day of school. They got to play on the playground together, sat next to their classmates at lunch and learned about their classrooms. I had some paperwork to fill out when I got home from work and I'm sure there will be more.

Bella said they made a trip to the library and listened to a story about a gingerbread man and got to eat gingerbread cookies. Quinn of course said he didn't know what they did in school! LOL!

Bella did a cute handprint on a page that had an adorable poem about her First Day of Kindergarten. I have posted in on her page. Quinn said he did one too, but his teacher didn't send it home.

They are excited about going back to school and I'm excited to hear what they do everyday. It has been nice so far having time to get things done around the house. I think I can get used to this, however it will still take some time.

Meet the Teachers!

On Friday August 19th, 2011 we got to meet their teachers! We got a lot done at the school today. We found out their bus schedule, bought school t-shirts, got to see where their classrooms were and met their teachers!

They are in the dual language program so they will have the same teachers throughout the year. Quinn has Mrs. Ferrell for homeroom and Bella has Sra. Salvatierra for homeroom. They will switch teachers during the day to learn Spanish. During meet the teachers we got to do a scavanger hunt to locate things in the classroom as well as drop of school supplies and meet their teachers in person! The kids even got little snack goodie bags from their teachers to welcome them to Kindergarten!

I think they are very excited and ready to start the school year!
Excited to meet their teachers!

We are going to be Dual Language Students!

First Day is Almost Here!

I'm finally going to school this year,
and now the big day's almost here.
I'll learn to write and count and read--
Only two more days till school.
I got new pants and shirts and socks,
a brand-new red and blue lunch box;
I'll paint and sing and dance and play--
Only one more day fill school.
My hair is washed, my sneakers squeak,

New things to do, new friends to meet--
Hooray! It's the first day of school!

Few More Days!

It's almost time for school! We have a few more last minute things to get on the kids school supply list, and I am trying to make sure everything is together. I was hoping to get the kids up today at their regular 'school time' however I'm fighting a sinus infection and just wanted to sleep!

Tomorrow the twins have 'Meet the Teacher' and we are also bringing all of their supplies, because I know they will not be able to carry all of it on Monday on the BUS! I am excited for them to start school, however I know that will be another emotional day for me as they will be gone ALL DAY!! New adventures are always scary, but this will be great for them. I can't wait to hear all of the stories they bring home, and see how they like the BIG SCHOOL!

Time to get this day started, a list together of what we still need since I am behind and get ready for tomorrow! Kindergarten here WE come!

Getting Ready!

Well it's that time of year to get things ready. Kindergarten is right around the corner and summer is almost over. Quinn and Bella have had their yearly check ups at the pediatrician, and let me tell you between Quinn and Brinlee I ahven't been to the pedi office that much in a week let alone a year!

I have gotten most of their school supplies on the list, with a few more to purchase yet. They got new backpacks and lunch bags ready to go! We have 'Meet the Teacher Night' on August 19th. So we are very excited!!

I don't know if I told you or not but they both were accepted into the Dual-Language Program! Only 36 kindergarteners are accepted and they BOTH GOT IN!! They will be doing half of their day in English and half of their day in Spanish. I better get my translation book soon and start learning my Spanish! All I know right now, is...uno, dose, tres. (Is that the correct spelling anyways?) Oh boy....

Anyway I hope that you choose to follow their school blog. I think I will be able to keep up this year with posting once a week, or here and there since they are in school all day. Thanks for reading!!

We are Kindergarteners!

Last night the twins had their Promotion Night at Family Christian Center School. They did a wonderful job, I also did great at holding back my tears! I was crying inside because they have grown so much, so fast.

Thanks to Bella's teachers Ms. Patricia and Ms. Christi; and Quinn's teachers Ms. Denissa and Ms. Kim. You all have done such a wonderful job from taking our children under your loving care from day one and treating them as one of your own children. I will admit the first day we dropped them off I was so nervous about leaving them, how they would do, if they would get scared, make friends, etc. They talked about school everyday and were excited to go to school each day. Thanks to your hard work they are exceptional students and have a great head start for Kindergarten! We will miss all of you dearly and hope you will stay in touch.

We are very proud of both of you QUinn and Bella and can not wait to see what you accomplish next year in Kindergarten. You will be going to school ALL DAY! I can still see you both as little babies when you were born and it's hard to imagine you are going to be going to school on your own on the BUS!

Here is to a new year in KINDERGARTEN!!

Valentine's Day!

Quinn and Bella are starting to learn what Valentine's Day is. Tonight they wrote out their V-Day cards for their classmates, and it was so nice to see them writing their names! How fast a year goes by. Quinn of course too forever, but Bella zipped right through!

They are each having their own little party in their classes tomorrow. I know that they will get some Valentine's Day cards from their friends, but didn't want tons in their backpacks, so silly me forgot to get a craft at Michael's to hold their Valentines. So we did then next best thing that I used to do when I was little. We made our own Valentine's Day boxes! They had a ton of fun decorating their boxes!! Here are some pictures. Enjoy and Happy Valentines Day!!!

Monkey Business

Quinn singing his 'Monkey Song.' He learned this in Ms. Denissa's class and he LOVES it!! We recorded this back on November 10th, 2010. He even tried teaching Brinlee how to sing it.

Back to School

Well it's the lat day of Christmas Break for the twins. They had a wonderful time off, lots to do, sometime not enough to do and got some cabin fever!! I can tell you that I am ready for them to go back to school but I still need a vacation from my vacation to get things done!!

Bella is looking forward to seeing Gabriel again and giving him his Christmas gift. And Quinn has a gift for Stephanie too. Bella is looking forward to her homework and Quinn just want to play...LOL!

I love seeing the enjoyment they have telling me and showing me what they have done in school. This first week back will be rough as we try to get our bodies back and used to the schedule. My schedule for work is changing so that will get some getting used to as well as Brinlee being almost potty trained.

Let enjoy this last day of break and see you in SCHOOL TOMORROW!
